We have been watering our seeds every couple of days and sitting them on the window sill to get some light. We look at the seeds each week and we have noticed in our cups that the seed was splitting and we could see the root starting to grow. Some seeds grew quicker than others. In some of the pictures you can see there is now a root going down and a shoot coming up.We will plant some seeds into soil and leave some without soil and we will see how they grow.

Today we read Dr Seuss's ABC book as we are having a Dr Seuss day tomorrow at school.
In writing we were learning about Alliteration .
The children listened to the book being read to them.
We then looked at what alliteration was. As a group we chose an animal that we would see at the zoo. Together we thought of some words that start with the beginning sound and wrote these down and then as a class we made our sentence. The children paired up and they had a picture of an animal and they wrote down their words and then with the support of the teacher made up their sentences.
Alliteration happens when words that start with the same sound are used close together in a sentence. The sound is usually a consonant and the words don't have to always be right next to one another.

We are learning how to do some science experiments.
We are finding out about
How does a seed grow?
The children have watched a video about how seeds grow. They know that seeds need light, water and soil to grow.We thought we would find out if seeds can grow without soil.

Today we made sherbet to show how different things react to each other. We used; baking soda, jelly crystals, icing sugar and citric acid. We mixed it all together then got to taste it. Please ask your child how it tasted! They enjoyed the sherbet fizzing on their tongue.!
